2002 Subaru Impreza WRX

Breathing through a tiny 34mm air restrictor, Sylvain Erickson's 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX rally car makes only 230 wheel-hp. But by feeding the flat-four Spec C engine loads of boost and designing a special venturi before the restrictor plate, the rally engine manages to produce 319lb-ft of torque at just 3800rpm. From there, it's a slow fizzle of power, but the Subie has already made its point with a fat mid-range that helps churn snow, ice, dirt and mud out of the way.
